The Himalayas of Nepal: one of the most beautiful and powerfully peaceful places we have ever wandered. To know you are here not just because the man you walk this life with has generously saved another human’s life…but because more can be saved, more families kept together, more friendships left healthy and happy…well, it couldn’t have been a better place to share that message.

Personal Recap of Everest

The Himalayas of Nepal: one of the most beautiful and powerfully peaceful places we have ever wandered. The people who live in the mountains are mostly Buddhist and the prayer walls and flags greet you at every village. You can feel that peace and sense of genuine responsibility towards the wel-being of others (and karma) permeate everything. To wander among those spectacular peaks, where every bend reveals more splendor, to feel the grounded beauty and natural wonder with each step, to witness the presence of the people and the genuine laughter of the children, and to know you are here not just because the man you walk this life with has generously saved another human’s life…but because more can be saved, more families kept together, more friendships left healthy and happy…well, it couldn’t have been a better place to share that message. Our recent hike to Kilimanjaro, showing what’s possible after donating a life-saving organ, was filled with laughter, song, dance and what felt like a million points of life affirming light spreading out from each of us collectively. It was spectacularly connected and inspiring to be part of that magnificent team, both trekker and Tanzanian alike. This journey through the Himalayas felt more like an ages old religion and the earth itself supporting the message with love and breathtakingly grounded peace. Our guides and porters were a quieter group than their Tanzanian counterparts, but equally amazing. We were honored and humbled to hear them quietly, yet eagerly, share our life saving message with friends up and down the trail. And equally grateful to have the Nepali times take interest in and write about living organ donation.

To wander these magnificent continents, sharing life affirming messages of hope and kindness toward others, is one of life’s greatest honors. The sense of luck, wonder and gratitude follows us daily.
