Fire-Wise Build

Building a fire-wise (dare we say fire survivable) home and showcasing it as a community awareness project to save lives and communities.

Our Home

Sadly fires in the West are the reality and growing. Saving lives, homes and communities depends on how we navigate that unfortunate reality. We want to be a good spark in the conversation.

We are just 2 people, with a team of like minded partners, who care. Our organ donation awareness journey showed us that our world still supports the “little guy” spreading a powerful or useful message. Being earnest with committed intent goes a long way. People and communities in the West need to shift to the reality of wildfires and be proactive with how we build or rebuild…..our lives and livelihoods depend on it.

Construction begins June 2026 (fingers crossed).

Fire-Wise Products & Practices

As we began this journey, we discovered relatively simple changes to the products we choose to build with can vastly enhance a home’s ability to survive a fire. Similarly, how we landscape, plan and maintain around our home affects its survivability. We will be documenting our specific build but there are also direct links below in Wild Fire Resources to some of this technical info we relied on.
